The clarinet is a woodwind musical instrument with a simple reed and a cylindrical body. The instrument has a wide scope, over three octaves and is most often present as a transposing instrument (tuned in a key other than C). The reed of the instrument is vibrated by the lower lip of the performer; fingerings are facilitated by a complex system of keys.
